Tax and affairs

I think I mentioned the tax man's request for £3000 earlier. Looked up my old payslips and have to say that he's right in that someone was late applying the correct code but I really don't think it is fair to say I should have noticed and told them. At about the same time I had changed from a full-time to a 0.8 lecturer basis so would have had a lower net pay and probably thought that was the tax kicking in again. There was also a change of people running the payslips and they were making mistakes as I had had a massive extra deduction, again at around that time, which I remember having to get repaid in cash by Finance Dept!

Putting my appeal letter, or more like a desperate begging letter, together was easier said than done - took me ages! Have to wait and see what result it gets. My guess is that I'll have to repay over a year which will hit me to the tune of about £250 a month at least. If I can ask them for a two year period then that would be vaguely manageable but could still do without all that just at the wrong time! Grrr. Life.

Heard from Arfeen after a long time and really have to give up on her now. I left her with a joking text suggesting that I help her have a baby so she can get some accommodation from the council and get away from the crazy life that her family seem to restrict her too. It was intended as a joke but I have a feeling she got a bit of a shock! To be honest, if she can't cope with my humour and shows no intention of actually trying to get out of the violent household and family who seem to have no clue about what a 26-year-old girl needs in her life, then there's nothing I can do for her and conversations are just going to be futile. Whilst she is most attractive and has shown some nice nature and occasional flashes of brilliance, practically every call or contact I've had has been for help or to moan about something at College or disaster at home. I also get a bit annoyed at the Wat u doin type of message and replies a few words long to my efforts to communicate. It doesn't look like she'll have much, if any, work at College this year so it may be best simply to let things lie on that front.

Kathryn was really pleased with the logo and has been promoting my services on twitter. Nice sunny day.
