Bryony's A star(s)

Bryony got her first stage GCSE results today. She was dead nervous - mostly about what N would say as she expected some lower grades in some, especially Chemistry and one or two others. It had been a tough year for her and I was as reassuring as I could be. She still has time to improve them anyway. Imagine my delight, then when she comes bouncing back to the car clutching her list of A* and As with just the one B which she can convert to an A anyway! It was such a great feeling and she was beside herself. Nice to see her like that after all the hassles and disappointments and stressful times we'd had.

I realised that I had missed all that with Katie and Russell so it was great for me to experience the pride too. And, of course the relief! The funny thing was how she kept looking in disbelief at the Chemistry result which she'd predicted as a C or D and it was A*!! She had no idea how she'd got that.

Off then to Dunstable again and arrived in time for the Principal's chat before we started seeing students wanting to enrol. He came over and shook hands which he didn't do with others and it was quite odd (and noticed by others). I'm not sure he'd remembered who I was but I asked how he was getting on with the reorganisation plans which might have been a bit of a fast ball! I also mentioned that I'd got my Masters and would let him have the report on the data. better do that sometime, I suppose!

Bernard was back which was nice - need a friendly face around there or life is just so tedious and fraught with argument or potential argument. He's a decent chap and stayed around for a while as I battled with the one or two students that appeared. We left about 3pm and collected our payslips - quite early this month.

Weather is changing quite dramatically and feel a bit sorry for the people in Hurricane Irene's path in the States. Gareth from the English school there is in that area so hope all is OK. Here is decidedly grey.
