More boxes, a bright idea and shift change

Saturday: Cleaned the car after a long time. The stones have changed colour - they're a whitish shade now after some heavy rain last night. Except for the ones under my car which remain sandy brown.

In the hope of something good to watch in the evening I chose The Happening, fairly recent and supposedly horror story. What a complete load of rubbish in so many respects: the script, the acting and the photography. the first few minutes set an intriging scene, but that was as good as it got as flaws everywhere in the premise. In contrast, Torchwood is looking brilliant along vaguely similar lines.

Sunday: Kirri and Bryony came over and I loved their Wow!! expressions as they ventured upstairs. Great. Played cricket for much of the afternoon and had a good time. I only have £20 left in cash and precious little in the bank account so daredn't use the card. That meant we had to add up the shopping as we went and stop when we were getting close to £20. Strange but that's how it has to be. N really annoying and after coping well for some time she managed to unnerve me once again. I wish I could find a way to be truly separate with one definite agreement as to how much I pay and what we do about extra things. Particularly frustrating is to hear that she spends a fortune still on films and other stuff that is pretty unnecessary and then moans about there not being enough food for them. Honestly, what is a poor man supposed to do?

While I was collecting K and M I picked up yet more boxes from their garage. Just as I had got clear at home too! Damn. But, in fairness, they are my things and the less I have there the better the way things are going. In fact, when I started looking at what was in the boxes there were some really good stuff so, apart from the risk of getting into a mess again, it's OK. As I was thinking about where on earth to store the newest piles I had a brainwave - Grandma's garage! It's dry and easy to access and, even if she doesn't approve at the start I can persuade her for the time being. That makes so much sense - basically it's half mine sooner or later anyway and might as well be used rather than my suffering and getting a bit down about it being here just as I start getting straight again. In fact, I do need to take a trip to see her soon anyway as it's been ages and now I can fill up the car and maybe get rid of quite a lot of stuff I hardly need to look at for some years.

On the way home I had to get some more petrol. Arrived just as they were changing shifts so had to wait about 10 minutes while they did some sums. Put £20's worth in and only had my £50 note. The guy didn't have any change! Crazy! I didn't want to risk the card, even though it should have had enough, and wondered aloud why he didn't keep a decent float. So, I hung around for another 10 or 15 minutes until enough people had come in and paid with cash to enable him to give me £30 back.
