This Coronavirus has really messed things up. It is now July and I don't see me getting to see Olga again until September. August may be a possibility. I has tickets for 28 June which I converted to 12 October and I have 22 July and 5 August and 7 September too. The UK Government is due to relax its restrictions on travel this week but whether ukraine will be amongst those where I can be free to go I don't know. Ukraine had had a fairly good experience with few infections but recently they have been increasing again and now the proportionate rate is higher than UK.
But even if the UK FCO take off the recommendation not to travel I have the problem of getting in at the other end. At the moment the policy seems to regard UK as in a 'Red Zone' and so I would be required to show Medical Insurance and that insurance it seems has to be with a company that also has a registered office in Ukraine or an associated company there. Mine does not so it wouldn't be of much help in that respect. I could consider forging some details as the documents are lengthy and I can't imagine anyone actually reading through them. I have thought about finding a company in Ukraine with which it might be reasonable for my company to have been associated and tweaking various paragraphs as necessary to suggest that. I'd rather not, though, and I am really hoping that that requirement will be dropped as and when I am able to travel and that UK will be in a better 'zone' too so that the requirements can be more easily met.
They do have some app but that requires that you can provide a selfie with a mobile they are aware of within a few minutes of being requested. That has to prove that you're where you say you'll stay for two weeks 'quarantine'. So that's not going to work for me as I couldn't even pop out the the shops at that rate.
All in all, I need a relatively simple trip to be possible and that's why I am assuming that 22 July will not be on and that even 5 August may be too soon and it is 7 September that actually works. I much prefer the idea of being there in September, which would tie in with a trip to Malta in the Autumn much better. It is a long time to wait, though, and in every Skype meeting Olga is looking more and more desirable and we ae being more and more desperate to get together again.
Can I wait? Yes, I have already managed years in the past! And it's been about 150 days so far. To 7 September would be 215 days so that's a mere 65 to go! We'll see.
In other news both May and June were excellent months for Corgi sales. I also bought quite a few too so not sure how much of a contribution they made to the bank balance. I am trying to be more careful now about purchases and to get things that are either really good bargains or that should sell quickly. Nothing yet for July but is is only the 2nd!
The bike sits in the living room all day except on dry days when I pop it outside. I have had a couple of runs but only up and down the village. I will sell it to Andy to clear my debt with him perhaps although he seemed a little surprised at the price I'd paid. So maybe he won't want it and I can't really advertise on Ebay as Lee will see it and that's embarrassing and a bit unfair to him. So it may be a while before much happens and I'll need to move it to the garage or maybe Andy's place anyway. What could be interesting is the e-bike that is supposed to be on its way. These Wish products do take their time and I am beginning to forget what's due!
There's a new phone, possibly a couple of laptops and the e-bike. Oh yes, and a pair of shorts. Crazy.
