It's really nice but I think I have over-estimated my abilities! I have had a few rides but it's hard work and I had to get off at some of the hills around here. On the level and small inclines, no worries, but it isn't as easy as I'd hoped. So I can't see me going to Greens Norton on it and it may well not get a great deal of use. That's a shame as it is very good and I would like to have make more of an effort so I'm a bit sad about this. I may make another run around the place and if I don't push mself too far them perhaps I'll be encouraged to do a short trip more often and, at least, keep it for a while.
A friend in the village, Andy Groom, was impressed by it and seems to be interested in buying it from me. I can't imagine him riding it anywhere but he said he would like to keep it in ihis conservatory. Not too sure why, although it does look smart. I may consider this if I can get my money back that way and it gets a nice home.
On the two-wheel theme, I spotted an advert on my phone for a weird-looking device that is supposed to be a fold-up electric bike. At $30 including delivery, a 95% discount, I couldn't resist checking it out. I have a suspicion that it may not be a bike at all as we know it but more of a ride-on scooter and so probably illegal here or which needs tax or something. Horrors - it might need a helmet!! Anyway, I think it's all genuine and at such a crazy price I have ordered one and, I believe. it is now on its way to me from some place in China.
At least I can keep that one in the car. The real bike is in my living room or kitchen!
Another item supposed to be coming from China at a very low price is a Huawei laptop. This I ordered on Wish.com a long time ago, must have been March. They did say it would be a long time but it seems that it may only now be being processed. It was a really crazy price for a very well-specified machine, not the usual cheap processor or screen. I can't remember but it was around $60, maybe £60 with delivery. A huge bargain, whatever the case and it looked ideal to take with me on my travels to Ukraine. My old Samsung Chromebook has had its day now and is not being supported any more. It works but is a bit creaky and it has done excellent service since 2012.
I do hope it is not going to be treated as not delivered and a refund offered, as if they made a mistake with the pricing. I would have expected that to have been stated by now, though, so it may turn out to be real but it is taking a very long time. I wil be a little surprised if it does get here but I do hold out hope.
And yes, I'm still here. My next ticket with WizzAir is for a flight on 21 June. I have a feeling that Ukraine may permit international flights from 15 June and so the ticket is for a flight I could take but they will have quarantine restrictions in place so that I wouldn't be able to go anywhere for 2 weeks - not even stay with Olga. Then there's the matter of having to self-isoltae when I get back for 2 weeks too! That I could probably get round but not the Ukraine element. So I think I shall simply lose the money for the 21 June and maybe also the 28 June tickets. Theye were only £8.99, though, so it's no big deal. The next then is 12 July. Now that, I feel, could be possible. We'll see.
Olga and I now meet via Skype on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. It's very nice and we have some food and wine together and chat as best we can. There's not a great deal of new, of course, but maybe there will be when I can start to plan a trip. As it is we both get slightly inebriated as the session goes on and I am sure she was asking to see 'her friend' last time when I mentioned that seeing her was having an interesting effect! Probably my misinterpretation and we're far too old for that sort of thing, surely!
