Farewell to all that!

Life starts here. Well, stage x of life, that is, as Bernard and I saunter out of the white-framed glass doors for the final time. I expected some staff to leap out with a present or a card, at least, but no, we carried on walking and that was it. A very odd feeling but also such a huge relief.

Having a decent sum in the bank changed my world from one in which I had no idea how I would get through each month to one in which I could get what was needed, relax and smile again. A massive, truly massive difference. In fact I couldn't stop smiling all week!

Bernard and I had planned to go and get a late lunch in Hockcliffe so I followed him up the A5. The place was closed for redecoration or something so we went to a local garage to collect his car from an MOT and that was the slightly odd place where we said goodbye. We arranged to meet again later in the summer.

That evening there was a Paddock Party meeting and there was a break to wish me well, cheers and all that. a nice touch and another reminder of how much I preferred life here in the village and would want to make it work as best as I can.
